The Professional Teaching Standards by SACE is a document geared toward seeking to promote professional teaching practice and embedding a strong professional teaching culture in within the country of South Africa.

The need for PTS’s had been seen against the need for the production of a better education system and a better teacher focused on best educational interests of the learners  in the country.

The aim of these PTS’s is to establish a set of standards for professional teaching and conduct that is theoretically informed, values based, appropriate to the South African context, and widely accepted by stakeholders.

The overall encumbering ideal being to facilitate a move toward the development of a better learner and teacher.
