Teaching Practice Improvement
Teacher professional development in the Western Cape is a critical component of educational improvement and ensuring quality education in the region. The Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI) plays a central role in offering a range of professional development programs to teachers, school leaders, and support staff.
The focus of the Teaching Practice improvement unit, is to train teachers from Grades R-12 to improve their content knowledge and skills in, among others, Languages (with focus on reading) and Mathematics, and to equip each teacher with new pedagogies to teach the curriculum effectively in the classroom. Opportunities are created during the training sessions for teachers to share their experience and best practices.
