Mode: This 1-hour webinar and 1-hour microlearning opportunity will be delivered in English. 

Platform: 

  • MS Teams Webinar 1 hour on 6 August 2024 and
  • Google Classroom - content and quiz (accessible from 6 August to 12 August 2024)

Teachers need to know how to respond to the growing diversity of contemporary classrooms to this end differentiate instruction acknowledges the learners' backgrounds, readiness levels, languages, interests and learning profiles.  This stand-alone microlearning opportunity has been designed to support you in differentiating problem-based mathematical tasks to include the learners’ social context. 

It is designed in such a way that it specifically addresses problem-based mathematical tasks by making tasks more context-rich. This is also a form of differentiation in teaching and learning. Tasks will be designed by including the role of social interaction in learning, based on Sociocultural Theory. 

It comprises two parts, namely an MS Teams webinar and support material provided in the Google Classroom.  The classroom will be open for a period of one week to allow you to engage with the content.  A recording of the webinar will be uploaded to the classroom should you miss the live session.  A short quiz will assist you to gauge your understanding of the content presented. 

Time: The webinar duration is 1 hour and the support material loaded to Google classroom will take approximately 50 minutes to read, additionally there is a short 10-point multiple-choice quiz to help you assess your knowledge.
