About this Course

This Micro learning opportunity will be presented ONLINE by Natalie Southgate (WCED). The purpose of the webinar is to empower teachers to identify the core skills and knowledge that must be taught in  Term 1 Jolly Phonics. It will give teachers a clearer understanding of why phonics must be taught in a sequential and structured manner.  It will look at the different strands of Scarborough’s Reading Rope and demonstrate how phonological awareness/decoding and sight recognition is critical in building the foundation for learners to be able to read with meaning. Its aim is to build strong reading and writing literacy skills.
