Webinar and Google Classroom microlearning opportunity

Mode: This 1-hour webinar and 1-hour microlearning opportunity will be delivered in English.  

Platform: 

  • MS Teams Webinar 1 hour on 27 February and
  • Google Classroom - content and quiz (accessible from 27 February - 4 March 2024 )

Preamble: Due to teacher demand, this stand-alone microlearning unit has been constructed and is based on the full Positive Behaviour course. 

This stand-alone microlearning opportunity has as been designed to support you in understanding anger and strategies to support the angry child in the classroom.  It comprises two parts, namely an MS Teams webinar and support material provided in the Google Classroom.  The classroom will be open for a period of one week to allow you to engage with the content.  A recording of the webinar will be uploaded to the classroom should you miss the live session.  A short quiz will assist you to gauge your understanding of the content presented. 
 
Time: The webinar duration is 1 hour and the support material loaded to Google classroom will take approximately 50 minutes to read, additionally there is a short 10-point multiple-choice quiz to help you assess your knowledge. 
 
Background to the WCEDs Positive Behaviour Programme: The WCED Positive Behaviour Programme is a multi-pronged strategy to promote positive and restorative behaviour approaches by creating caring school cultures through educator capacity building, learner and parent intervention programmes as well as awareness programmes to highlight the programme efforts.  The new approach to positive behavioural support represents a shift from a focus on deficit and control, towards a developmental and restorative approach. This will enable learners to progress towards responsibility, relationship building and a greater sense of well-being. This approach is also embodied in the South African Constitution, the South African Schools Act and the specific outcomes of the National Curriculum Statement which give priority to the concept of responsibility.
