About this Course

The purpose of this course is to expose teachers to different digital assessment tools available for a 21st century classroom. 

A further objective is the development of ICT skills in using specific, curriculum-linked applications for both formative and summative assessment 

This online course is comprised of the following modules:

Module 1

By the end of this module you will have:

  • Consolidated your understanding of the term’ digital assessment”
  • Considered the benefits and disadvantages  to using digital tools for assessment
  • Identified one new digital assessment tool for you to explore on your own
  • Experienced the use of a digital tool to provide formative feedback

Module 2

By the end of this module you will have:

  • Consolidated your understanding of the terms’ formative” and “summative” assessment types
  • Understand how digital tools can be effective formative as well as summative assessment tools
  • Demonstrate your understanding via a collaborative feedback tool

Module 3

By the end of this module you will have:

  • Completed a formative assessment activity using Peardeck
  • Learnt how to create and share  a similar activity
  • Created your own formative assessment activity using PearDeck

Module 4

By the end of this module you will have:

  • Completed a digital summative assessment activity
  • Learnt how to create and share a self-marking quiz using Google Forms
  • Created your own summative assessment activity using Google Forms
  • Learnt how to view an analysis of the responses received

Module 5

By the end of this module you will have:

  1. Created an authentic digital assessment activity for the classroom linked to curriculum standards and objectives.

 

Target Group : Teachers: All phases; any subject

Format: Online, self-paced

ICT Skill level: Teachers ICT skill level must be Intermediate and NOT Beginner, please

Course requirements: Access to the Internet is essential either at school or at home

Certificate: WCED Certificate of Completion: subject to all tasks submitted
