About this Course

The Thinking like a Geographer (TLG) Teacher Development course for Grade 4 – 7 Social Sciences (Geography) teachers is based on higher order and 21st  century thinking skills blended with ICT and will include:

  • Kahooting – great fun learning game that will elicit engagement with pedagogical impact
  • AnswerGarden – easy-to-use online feedback app that can be used to elicit brief answers from learners
  • How to use reflective practice as a learning tool
  • Understand how a Geographer thinks
  • Promote Geography through questioning
  • Concept/content mapping from Grade R – 12
  • How to integrate maps with content in Grade 4 – 7
  • Google maps
  • Map skills in Grade 4 – 7
  • Understand and work with a range of sources in Geography (Grade 4 – 7)
  • Language Across the Curriculum: vocabulary development, reading for meaning, paragraph writing etc.
  • How to set quality Geography question papers
